Since I got the idea to maybe !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , I've made a half-hearted attempt at following through by posting the car on craigslist. In the meantime, I've been driving it a lot and realizing, oh hey, I actually really like this car. So maybe I'll just keep it.
But yeah...craigslist. In my post I explained the lease takeover process including the need for the new person's credit to be approved by BMW, the lease transfer fee, how long until the end of the lease, the miles on the car, miles left on the lease, and monthly payments.
I've gotten a few responses where people asked for additional pictures, or wanted to meet, and then disappeared. I've also gotten some particularly annoying ones. A sampling:
Hi,
I have some questions regarding your bmw. Will you please give me a call
Thanks
Suman
(Suman's phone number)
If you have some questions, why don't you, oh I don't know, ASK THEM IN THE EMAIL YOU'RE SENDING ME?
Hello
I might be interested in taking over your lease can you let me know much much is left to pay on the car i have a good credit score and should be able to take over thank you
Jose A.
Jose, would it kill you to use sentences? Not to mention ALL THE FINANCIAL INFORMATION IS IN THE CRAIGSLIST POST.
Ah, humanity. Such wonderfulness.

These seem pretty good for Craigslist, actually. I usually expect something more along the lines of:
"will u take 1300 for it? cash in hand"
Or
"wat color is it"

Last year when I posted my old Mazdaspeed 6 on craigslist, to see if I could beat the BMW dealer's trade offer, I got all kinds of ridiculousness. The worst was some guy who wanted to trade me his riced out non-Mazdaspeed 6 plus some cash. No thanks.
I showed it to a few lookie-loos, one of whom had totaled his own Mazdaspeed 6 by hitting a deer, came to look at it twice, brought his gf the second time, who then talked him out of buying the thing. I ended up accepting the BMW dealer's overall pretty good trade offer.

God I hate people. And I'm glad you're not selling it, because I like it too.

dealing with Craigslist will convince you to just keep it. I'm a much happier person with an amp and sub collecting dust in my basement than answering CL emails about them

Honestly, unless it becomes unreasonable I would personally do everything I could to keep that car. I'd kick myself a few years down the road if I let this car go. I really think it's value will hold really well and be highly sought after. I wish I could get my hands on the 135is and have my wife be ok with it. A friend of mine has a lease on one and it's just awesome.

I've had good experience with dealers trade values so far. As long as I can get very near to what I'd expect to sell it for, then I feel comfortable with it. Not having to deal with private party sales is a huge convenience and sometimes it's worth paying for it.

I have been looking at furniture on craigslist. There is a particular ikea bookcase that I wanted. There were 5 in the area so I emailed all 5 people. Only one ever got back. Luckily it was the cheapest one.
I want to give you money, just send an email. If it is sold, take it down. Pretty basic stuff.
"No dogs" does not imply that your dogs were not allowed on the couch. It implies that there weren't any dogs in the house. Just a hint for those who may not know.
I say all this but I have spent about 400 and gotten a lazy boy sofa, nice enough ikea bookshelf/desk set and a dining room table.

Well since mine is also a lease, I'd still be letting it go in a couple of years anyway. Unless I decide to buy it at the end of the lease.
I know the 1M is already skyrocketing in value, but I'm not sure the 135is has quite enough different from the regular 135i to merit extra collectibility. It's basically a 135i with some blacked out trim, and comes standard with the factory sport package, the typically dealer-installed M Performance Power Kit 2 and M Performance Exhaust. I definitely like the exhaust, and it's the fastest DCT-equipped 1-series, so I guess that's something.
Oh, and there's the 135is badge on the dash.

I've had some luck with craigslist. My gf traded in her old Sentra for a Civic last summer and wanted to get rid of the snow tires on steelies she had been running on the Sentra in winter. I made a nice long list of all the cars that the wheels would fit, so when people searched for say, "honda accord snow tires," the post would come up. Was able to unload them within a week.

nice! When it works like that, CL is awesome. When you get too many stupid questions and no-shows, it sucks

How is it on gas? Reliable?

In typical commuting and running errands and such I get around 21-23 mpg, and on road trips with lots of highway cruising it can get up to about 27 mpg. Not too bad, but it takes premium.
Reliability, no problems yet. I've had it for a year and put about 6700 miles on it (I have a Grand Cherokee I drive in winter). Only "issues" if you could call them that are one coolant top-off, and one random rough idle/stumble with a warning light, that was solved by turning the car off and back on again and then never came back.
I will say though, I think generally BMWs tend to develop problems a little later in their lives than mine.
